How to Reuse Your Nail Polish Bottles For Cuticle Oil

How to Reuse Your Nail Polish Bottles For Cuticle Oil

We've all been there.  We get to the bottom of a nail polish bottle after use or neglect, and what's left is a sad, thick mess.  The initial reaction is to throw it away, but don't!  Our bottles are completely recyclable yes, but why not get creative and use them for tiny vases, candles, or body oils!

Today I will teach you a very simple hack to use one of our bottles for your very own cuticle oil.  You will only need 3 things:

1.  A bottle of nail polish that you no longer wish to use.
2.  100% pure acetone nail polish remover.
3.  Your favorite olive oil.

Olive oil is nature's gift to those who wish to have strong, healthy nails!  As I said in the previous blog post, the nail is just like the skin, and will absorb whatever you put on it.  So when you rub olive oil onto your cuticles and nail beds daily, you will be amazed at how shiny and moisturized your nails will be.  I'm a little strange in that I have these little bottles of olive cuticle oil with me everywhere (my purse, my medicine cabinet, my gym bag, etc) but my favorite place to keep it is in my car.  The Southern California heat always keeps it at such a nice warm temperature and I just brush it on and drive wherever I need to go. lets get to it.

STEP 1: You need to remove all of the old nail polish out of the bottle and off of the brush.  Unscrew the cap and pour a small amount of 100% pure acetone nail polish remover into the bottle (it needs to be 100% acetone in order to dissolve the nail polish formula, and you can usually find these at your local dollar store).  Screw the cap back on and shake the bottle vigorously a few times.  You'll see the polish get thin quickly.  Pour out the polish onto a paper towel (do not put down your sink or toilet).  Do this several times until the liquid that you pour out is completely clear and has no nail polish left.  This is very easy with regular polish, but will take quite a few times if you have a glitter polish.

STEP 2:  After your bottle, brush and cap are clean, rinse them with running water and let them dry overnight.

STEP 3:  Take a bottle of olive oil and carefully pour it up to the fill line of the nail polish bottle.  I use a bottle with a spout, but a funnel is also very easy to use.

STEP 4:  Brush the olive oil onto your cuticles and nail beds daily for stronger, healthier nails.  If you like the oil to be warm, simply stick the bottle in a bowl of hot water and let it warm to the temperature you like.

I have super dry cuticles so I am really loving this! :) I am now letting the bottle and brush dry overnight. Can’t wait to pour olive oil and use it on my nail beds. Thank you so much. :)
